Parent Survey 2016

We need as many parents as possible (all) to complete our 2016 survey. We are currently evaluating our endeavours this year and their effectiveness. Stage 2 happy as pigs in mud

Stage 2 Camp

Experts say that a clean child isn't learning. Stage 2 certainly learnt plenty on their overnight stay to Coffs Harbour! This year Stage 2 journeyed to Coffs Harbour for their overnight excursion. This camp was the first time away from home for many, and all students displayed excellent behaviour, made new friends, tired new things and created new memories with their peers. All the letters of the alphabet came to school this week to party! Kindergarten students demonstrated what they have learned this year about the alphabet by dressing up as a character of their favourite letter and bringing along some food to share starting with that letter too. Hardy Boys and their Grandparents

Grandparents Day

It was back to school for our Grandparents on Monday. Our school celebrated Grandparents Day in GRAND fashion on Monday with an extravaganza that started at 10:15am and concluded at 1:45pm. Our visitors attended a mini concert, had a special morning tea, took part in 8 activities with the grandkids and finished it off with delicious sausage sandwiches for lunch and a visit to their grandchild's classroom. 2017 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2016, all NSW public schools will receive a 2017 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. Dance Eistedfodd Team

Dancers 4th At Port Eistedfodd

Our extension dance group performed in the Port Macquarie Dance Eistedfodd last night at The Glasshouse to a packed audience against 13 other primary schools in our area. The group were awarded 4th overall. They received fantastic encouragement from the adjudicator. 'A well put together routine which had a good use of layered choreography. Jump Rope For Heart Day

Jumping For Joy to Support a Great Cause - Laurieton Public School community has every reason to be very proud of our students. All students from Kindergarten through to Year Six combined together to complete 8 high energy activities to raise money for the Heart Foundation in their recent Jump Rope for Heart Day. Backyard League

NRL grant gives our students the gift of league skills and footballs. During Term 2 a number of Yr 3-6 students participated in the Backyard League program. This program teaches the skills of rugby league in fun and enjoyable sessions. The program was sponsored by the NRL and as a result, each student who participated received a football. Our school is participating in the Heart Foundation Jump Rope For Heart program and we would love your support! Skipping encourages children to be active, learn new skills and raise vital funds for heart research and community health programs. To celebrate Australian National Science Week Year 5 students were invited to visit the Hastings Science Fair. The fair showcased the work of Year 8 students which explored the question "Is everything better now than it used to be?" There was also a selection of Year 10 Individual Student Research Projects. Our job was to judge both the Year 8 and Year 10 projects by putting a star into the box of the projects we liked. Infants athletics

Infants put their athletics skills to the test...

It was fun for all ages at our recent Infants Athletics Carnival. A wonderful day was had by all Stage 1 last Friday at Inmon Oval. Our Infants children walked to the oval on a day that could easily be mistaken for a summer's day. Competitive, supportive, well behaved and exhibiting a great ‘having a go' spirit, we experienced a fabulous fun filled day together. Oh the stories we could tell.... This year our stories were about our present students and some ex-students and saluting those who inspire along the way. Many of our parents and carers braved the adverse conditions and attended our special assembly, visiting classrooms and stayed for a sausage sandwich. Wheelie Good Fun

The voice of Ironman Australia, Pete Murray brought his Wheelie Safe Kids bike safety program to school. We had the excitement of the Wheelie Safe Kids program at school. Pete taught the students about bike safety and put them through an obstacle course to test their skills. Shining Performances at Dance Festival

Congratulations our dance crew, Miss Liesa and Miss Dampney on the outstanding performances at the Southern Network Dance festival. Primary and secondary schools from Great Lakes in the south to South West Rocks in the north, all converged on Camden Haven High School over 3 days to showcase the amazing dancing programs that are happening in the public school system here on the Mid North Coast. Teacher, Parent, Student Interviews a Success

Feedback has been very positive from our Teacher, Parent and Student Interviews. Students showed their work and set learning goals in their recent sessions with their parents and teacher. They were able to identify their strengths, weaknesses, and what they are proud of. North Coast Soccer Selection

She missed out last year but that didn't hold her back - only made her more determined! Erin Gunton has been successful in gaining selection to the North Coast Girls Soccer team as Goal Keeper. Erin is one of 14 girls selected to the regional team from public schools from Laurieton in the south to Tweed Heads in the north. Erin will play Goal Keeper. Erin will go into training camp in Lismore before heading to the State PSSA Soccer Carnival in Albury later in the term.... Read more

Pilot Station

Pilot Station Visit for Heritage Week

On Monday 5/6K and 5/6C went to the Pilot Station. Ross, our guide met us and told us that we would be going on a walk and he would be giving us information at different historical points on the way. We visited the flagpole where the pilots used nautical flags to send messages to the ships, then we went to see the old cattle grid which is now wetlands. Artist Visit

The Historical Society and The Camden Head Pilot Station are working with Stage 3 students to relive the important history of the Camden Haven. This history will be on display as part of the launch of Heritage Week in the Port Macquarie Hastings Council area at 10:00 am on Saturday 16 April, 10 am at the Camden Head Pilot Station. Last Friday, Kinder, Yr 1 and Yr 2 participated in a Minkey Hockey session. The children had the opportunity to use a hockey stick and ball during some fun drill activities. They had to dribble the hockey ball between witches hats and go head to head to try and score goals.
