Our school has been very fortunate to recieve a donation of books worth approximately $6,500 dollars. This very generous donation was made to us by The Westport Club/ Dymocks Children's Charity.
The books we received had been chosen from the list supplied through the Premier's Reading Challenge for this year. Having these books will allow us to provide better than ever support for the Premier's Reading Challenge program. We have had many students involved in this program for some years now and it is hoped that in 2011 we shall be able to enable every student in the school to be part of the program and to make use of the new books rceived recently.
On Thursday 14th October, a special presentation of the books was made at the Westport Club.
Mrs Burton, P&C President Sue Wells and our Principal Mr Willard attended this function as representatives of our school, along with our school captains, Jacarna and Nash.
Following this ceremony, representatives of the Westport/ Dymocks group travelled to our school where the books, numbering over four hundred, were actually handed over in our library to a class of our students. We were very excited to be able to sit down and immiediately have a read through some of these fabulour new books.
We are most grateful to Dymocks Children's Charities and the Westport Club for this most generous donation.
