It was back to school again for many Grandparents on Tuesday at Laurieton Public School.
Tuesday's rain and dismal weather did not dampen our Grandparents Day celebrations. The Hall was filled with grandparents to watch wonderful performances by the band, dance groups and K1S. Thanks to Mr Pole, Miss Dampney and Miss Liesa for preparing the creative arts students so expertly for their performances and to Mrs Strong and K/1S for sharing their movie. This was followed by a morning tea of delicious cakes and goodies baked by our Year 6 students to help raise money for their gift to the school.
Thank you to all Year 6 families for your efforts in baking and to the students for serving the hungry masses on the day. All children and grandparents then participated in a variety of activities which included a photo booth, grandparent interviews, Mathletics on the computers, dancing, maths games, outdoor games, board games and reading. It was wonderful to see so many grandparents interact so enthusiastically with their grandchildren. Thank you to the teachers for opening up your classrooms for the day and to all students on their wonderful behaviour. Thanks also to Mrs Marks who enjoyed roaming from room to room to capture photos of many smiling faces! Tasty sausage sandwiches were then served up for lunch. A big thank you goes to ed, Helen, Dale and Kay for preparing and serving up lunch along with yet more Year 6 students who volunteered to help.
The day was such a success with many grandparents staying for the whole day. We thank all grandparents for travelling from near and far to enjoy the opportunity to spend time with their grandchildren. A final thank you to Mrs Strong who coordinated the entire event.
